Drought Conditions Held Responsible For Influx in Bears in Aspen

A few months after these black bears will hibernate for a long time, but what before that? This must be the question of majority of residents of United States.

These black bears are all out, searching for food, so as to pile up their stock before they hibernate this winter. But this has become a serious issue for several numbers of people residing in Colorado and the conditions have been termed to have become worse.

During the month of August, Aspen police officials were reported to have received 300 calls regarding the clumsy creatures and their terror. This year the rate is up from last year’s figure by 66%.

It has been warned that activities of the bear have increased, and have been revealed to be more than that administered in the previous years.

Aspen Police Department bear specialist Dan Glidden affirmed that this year the number of bears in the area has increased due to the severe drought conditions experienced.

He said, “Bears have been forced into urban and suburban areas this year because food supplies are short elsewhere. A dumpster or trash can become a meal for the creatures”.

Further, even Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen have suggested of the same conditions being responsible for the influx in bears.
