Thousands of online sites supported by the GoDaddy. com, were reported to have temporarily shut down for several hours on Monday, due to which, many users had to suffer a lot, especially those running small businesses, which are completely dependent on the service.

A blog on Twitter, which is suspected to be associated with Anonymous hacker group, read that they are to be held responsible for the temporary loss of power. However, there were no confirmations. However, another blog, which is believed to be associated with Anonymous, asserted that the first feed made is nothing to do with the group and it is only trying to take benefit from the outage.

GoDaddy spokeswoman Elizabeth Driscoll stated that the outage initiated at nearly 1:25 p. m. EDT and by the 5:43 p. m. EDT, the GoDaddy. com website was back into service and was also restored.

Driscoll said, “The service was restored for the bulk of its customers and there was no loss of sensitive customer information such as credit card data or passwords and that the company was investigating the cause”.

The GoDaddy. com supports millions of webistes, which majorly are for the small business. Further, the websites, which were blogging on Twitter regarding the failure, included MixForSale. com.
