The NASA’s aircraft Curiosity has been on the Mars for the past six weeks now. After landing on the red planet, the Curiosity will be analyzing a rock found on the Mars. The rock will be analyzed by using Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer (APXS) of the Curiosity.
The APXS will be used by the rover for measuring the molecules of the rock that are present in the rock. Richard Cook, the manager of mission Mars, said, “We're now at a point where we want to start to do some surface-contact science”.
The rock that will be analyzed has been named Jake Matijevic. In the month of August, a researcher, Jake Matijevic, succumbed to death while landing on the red planet. The successful landing of the Curiosity has brought good news for the researchers as the rover has been sending pictures of the Mars to the Earth.
With the help of the Curiosity, the researchers studying the Mars will be able to unveil the mysteries behind the red planet. The astronauts and researchers are studying Mars to know whether or not life is possible on red planet. It is hoped that the rover with its latest gadgets will be able to help astronauts in getting answers to their quarries.
