As per a data being revealed by the National Heart Association of Malaysia, it has been found that heart disease is the main killer among Malaysian women. Azhari Rosman, who is the president of the association, was of the view that heart disease is 2.5 times more common among women than any sort of cancer.

He further affirmed that it is a high time now that women should take out this thing from the mind that heart disease occurs only to elderly men. It is not the case, and can happen to them as well. “Cancer does not take as many lives as cardiovascular diseases. Women also tend to dismiss pain more easily than men and generally have a higher pain threshold”, said Rosman.

According to National Health and Morbidity Survey for 2011, Malaysian women have the highest body mass index and that too in the entire Southeast Asia. It is a big concern for the country, and one of the reasons for increasing BMI is obesity.

There are probable chances that obesity is one of the contributing factors for an increased risk of suffering from heart condition. It has been said so, as 29.4% women out of 17,000 survey volunteers were overweight and other 15% were obese.
