With the pursuit of establishing control over the deadly hantavirus, researches of California have launched an experiment in a park. It is an unusual experiment that will be conducted in a park that is 1,200-square-mile long. In the park, the researchers will examine as to how hantavirus is transmitted.

The virus is born in mouse and is transmitted to humans. It has been reported that about nine lives have been affected by it in Yosemite National Park. Out of nine infected people, three succumbed to death. During the research over the hantavirus, the researchers will look at the factors that make the virus life threatening.

The researchers will be studying five genomes of the hantavirus. Besides, the screening has also been placed so that visitors of Yosemite National Park could be tested for the virus, timely. The workers of the park will also be tested for the virus.

Danielle Buttke from National Park Service said, “We want to take this opportunity to learn as much about the disease as we possibly can ... I think there's a lot to be learned here”. It is hoped that the research will help researchers in better understanding the virus.
