Flooding Pushed the NHS Blood and Transplant to Relocate Blood Stocks

It has been reported that NHS Blood and Transplant, the world’s largest blood bank, has moved its stock of blood to a new site because of flooding. With the aim of keeping the blood stock safe, the NHS Blood and Transplant took the initiative.

The flooding is said to have aroused because of collapsed culvert that was owned by Network Rail. Because of the flooding, the NHS Blood and Transplant was left with no other choice besides relocating its stocks.

Although the stocks have been relocated, workers of NHS Blood and Transplant have informed that some of the stocks had to be destroyed during relocation. It has come to light that the water level was till knee in the NHS Blood and Transplant on Monday.

A spokesperson of the NHS Blood and Transplant said, “…despite the disruption. An assessment is underway to look at the longer-term implications for business continuity, the recovery of the centre and a return to normal operations”.

While commenting upon the incidence, the Environment Agency told that they did inform NHS Blood and Transplant about the possible problems of opening the unit at this particular location. The owners of culvert have acted swiftly to avoid more disaster.
