It has been written in a latest study published by the journal Nature Genetics, 52 years ago, a new form of the germ was discovered in the southeast of the sub-Saharan African continent and then after 17 years of time, a second wave of the same was found.
According to this research, genetic transmutation and diseases such as HIV that are responsible for deteriorating the immune system of a human’s body and increasing the chances of exposing it to any other kind of infection is the only cause of spreading a deadly version of this intestinal germ throughout the sub-Saharan Africa.
This research was discovered when researchers compared the genetic variants of Salmonella Typhimurium, which is known as one of the Salmonella family of stomach bugs.
This enigmatic disease is called invasive non-typhoidal salmonella (iNTS). In comparison to several other continents, this disease affects Africa the most.
Out of the infected population here, around 22% to 45% of people get killed by iNTS. According to a previous research, it is generally from human to human that this disease transmits. But the main culprit is contaminated food that causes this infection. Outside Africa, Salmonella without this variant result in acute diarrhoea but then the death rate is less than 1%.
