Experts across the globe have been trying different methods, so that they can convince people that prediction being made by the Maya calendar about the end of world is wrong. A meeting was being held in the Merida, where renowned anthropologists, experts and archaeologists took part.

They had a detailed discussion in which they discussed about the Maya Calendar. Experts were of the view general perception is that some disaster would occur in 2012 and the world will end. Not only this, prediction was there that some storms would occur on the surface of Sun, which will lead to the end of the world.

Alfredo Barrera, who is a Mexican government archaeologist, was of the view that they can deny that the calendar did not make any predictions. It has made, but the predictions were about the problems that will take place in the world, like famines, drought and diseases outbreak.

“The Mayas did make prophecies, but not in a fatalistic sense, but rather about events that, in their cyclical conception of history, could be repeated in the future”, further asserted Barrera. He further asserted that it would be better that people should be aware of the reality that 2012 is not the end of the world.
