Wolves to be culled in Wedge Pack

Wolves to be culled in Wedge Pack

It has been reported that after conducting a meeting over five hours, the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission has decided to cull the wolves. After the meeting the commission asked the public to provide their ideas about killing the wolves in the Wedge Pack.

About 40 people provided idea over the ways and places where the culling could take place. Majority of the public participants said that culling will help in dealing with similar issues in future as well. Besides, people also expressed concerns over the idea. They asked the commission what they will do if the idea fails in saving the life of horses from the wolves.

Bill McIrvine is one of the owners of Diamond M ranch where 17 cattle have lost their life because of the wolf. He said, “We've done everything the department has suggested…Last of all, thanks to the department for taking this action so myself and my family could stay in business”.

On Friday, final decision will be taken on the situation. Last week, six gray wolves were killed by the Washington wildlife officials as no other option was there to protect the cattle from the wolves. It is hoped that the final decision of the commission will help cattlemen in staying in the business.
