JASNA, the Annual Meet with Lots of Pride and Style

JASNA, the Annual Meet with Lots of Pride and Style

Its been years that the Jane Austen Society of North America, JASNA, is celebrating its annual meeting every year with a different style. Remembering the one that took place in 1979, was a gracious one; around 100 people gathered at the Gramercy Park Hotel and all were dressed up stylishly.

The New Yorker was found with “dinner dresses, subdued-looking jewelry, and comfortable-looking jackets.”

This year, the meeting was at the Marriott in Downtown Brooklyn last weekend. It was an overall different experience to be a part of it.

More than 700 attended the event and it went on for three long days. The Dress code that was decided this time included pastel colored Regency dresses, decorous bonnets and straw baskets that could carry anything.

As said by Julia Matson of Minneapolis, the creator of an Austen-themed tea line, “This is a place where people can let their Jane Austen freak flag fly”.

The entire event was lined up in a way to make you remember of those beautiful lines of the real novel’s text. In addition, there were some renowned personalities too at the event to deliver the plenary lectures on their basic themes in regard of power, money and sex.
