Noble Prize for Quantum Control; Hopes for Unexpected Discoveries

The Nobel Prize in physics for this year has been received by Serge Haroche as well as David Wineland. In experimental physics, someone’s true measures of understanding are his ability to have control on something. And the two scientists have been awarded for this pursuit (the pursuit of control) only, according to a recent report.

It has been found that the two have ways to control the quantum world, which one has never discovered, in fact might never even have thought of. And by the control, not only physical motion of an atom is meant, but the internal state would also be under control.

As per the findings, it is just akin the difference between one’s ability to start out an avalanche and controlling the snowflake’s direction, when the avalanche is moving. The discovery means those calculations, easily, which until now were impossible.

It is being said that thermal behavior of molecules and atoms would be tried to be controlled with the quantum physics research. Besides, those innovations would be seen, which have probably not struck any mind till date.

“I think the match by the Nobel committee is quite perfect: Same generation, similar achievements, same global objectives and two excellent friends”, said a researcher Jean-Michel Raimond.

Gene variant may define why some drink more or less of coffee

While you may share your love for coffee with large number of people across the world, there is a possibility that consumption level may differ greatly. Why some people could only consume less amount of coffee, while others can take several cups a day is now defined by presence of a gene variant in an individual’s body.
