A survey carried out by Gallup has revealed that while some people from the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community identify themselves as independent, many others only claim that they have a Democratic identity.

The analysis included almost 121,290 Gallup Daily tracking interviews, all of which were conducted in 2012, between June 1 and September 30. The participants were asked if or not they consider themselves to be bisexual, gay or lesbian or transgender.

It was found after a thorough review that 43% of them were identifying themselves as independent, with some 44% as Democratic and 13% as Republican. On the other hand, says the group, amongst the non-LGBT Americans, only 32% identified themselves as Democratic. Also, some 30% called themselves as Republican and 39% claimed to be independent.

Besides, the group noticed that some 45% of all of them were claiming themselves as having liberal political views. And one in every five said they were very conservative. But, the ultra-conservative Family Research Council says that only 3.4% Americans identifying as LGBT; the figures are wrong. The actual size differs from that portrayed in media.

"Although the homosexual community may not be the largest in the U. S., it's certainly the loudest", it said.
