Penguin And Random House May Merge; Talks Going On

A recent report revealed chances of the respective owners of Penguin and Random House to join their hands to develop the world's biggest books publisher. It has been even confirmed by Pearson and Bertelsmann, that they are very much mulling over the option of merging.

It has further been reported that this move would be able to develop their joint dominance in the field of publishing as Pearson owns Penguin and the Financial Times, while Bertelsmann leads Random House. In case it worked out successfully, the new publishing house would be able to control some 25% of all books sold in the UK.

While Bertelsmann has refused to comment on this matter, the news of ongoing talks has been confirmed by a Pearson spokesman. However, uncertainty over the final result of the talks remains intact.

In addition, they would be able to enjoy the support of authors like TV chef Jamie Oliver, Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James and diver Tom Daley with this new move.

There has been a lot changed in this industry with the revelation of ebook readers and mass-market selling via supermarkets, and with the merger talks making rounds, it seems there is a lot yet to happen, which might change the face of the industry in the time to come.
