A recent drive has warned against mouth cancer, which seems to be spreading in Scotland. In order to make people all the more aware about the severity of the disease, Dundee University is putting in their efforts.

As per the report, there are 11.9 cases of the disease per 100,000 people in Scotland as compared to 8.1 cases per 100,000 in England.

"Mouth cancer can affect people of all ages. Historically, oral cancer mainly affected older age groups but now one in 10 cases is found in the under-45 age group", said Dr Simon Shepherd, clinical lecturer at the university's dental school, while asserting that reducing the risk of mouth cancer is very much possible.

One must understand that smoking, drinking too much of alcohol, poor diet and substandard oral hygiene does no good to anyone, instead it only escalates the risk of range of diseases. If reports from the British Dental Health Foundation are to be referred, there are some 60,000 people in the UK to be identified for the same in the next 10 years.

There is dire need for people to gauge to what extent small changes in their lifestyle can reduce the risk attached with many diseases.
