A study published in Pediatrics has found that teens are getting fascinated by body building concept. In order to achieve masculine body, these teens have been taking protein powders, steroids and remain on strict diet.

Building body is no harm, but route taken to reach at the destination is wrong, said study researchers. Lead author of the study Dr. Marla Eisenberg from the University of Minnesota said that use of drugs for body building is completely wrong.

In order to know the truth, study researchers carried out a survey, in which approximately 2,800 adolescents took part. Questions asked from them revolved around their views on muscle-enhancing behaviors and route adopted to fulfill the same. Dietary changes, exercise schedule as well as drugs intake were some of the things asked from volunteers.

After assessing the answers, the study researchers reached at a conclusion that not only boys, but girls are also turning towards that behaviour. "Given the adverse health effects of steroids and other muscle-enhancing substances, identifying populations at particular risk and understanding patterns of use hold considerable public health importance", said the study researchers.

It is vital that people should understand the side effects of taking steroids as well as going on strict diet.
