It's time that people with beer bellies start taking their health seriously, especially not neglecting their bellies as they don't just put them at higher risks of heart disease and diabetes but they can also increase the risk of weak bones.
Above claims are coming from US researchers who found that belly fat plays a major role in deteriorating ones health as men who are obese but don't carry large amounts of fat around their waist have not been found at such high risks as the ones with the fat levels.
"It is important for men to be aware that excess belly fat is not only a risk factor for heart disease and diabetes, it is also a risk factor for bone loss", Dr. Miriam Bredella, an Associate Professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School in Boston said in a media release.
She added that initially it was thought that men are comparatively at a better protected side against bone loss as compared to women, for which most of the studies on osteoporosis always focused on women but a recent research has brought out the fact that obese men had a greater risk of osteoporosis as compared to others.
