Conjoined Girl Twins Successfully Separated

It was the 21st surgery to separate conjoined twins at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, but every surgery has its own special moment. Recently, the hospital carried out a surgery on conjoined twin girls named as Allison June and Amelia Lee Tucker.

It took seven hours to separate them and doctors are now confident that both the girls will be able to live their independent lives. They were nine months old when they underwent surgery. Doctors revealed that the little girls were joined from the lower chest and abdomen.

Moreover, they share parts like chest wall, liver, diaphragm, and pericardium, but a number of their internal organs were not joined. Doctors said that they have predicted a bright future for both the girls.

Among the two, doctors said that Allison, the smaller twin is strong and Amelia, who is the larger twin, is still in intensive care unit. Shellie Tucker, mother of twins, said that she has been maintaining a blog to update the health status of her daughters.

Tucker said that it was the best moment of her life when she got the news that the operation was a complete success. "Today it is a time to celebrate, to be thankful, to appreciate, to praise, and to enjoy this weight lifted off our shoulders", said she.
