Microbes Gets Affected by Deforestation

Concerns have been raised about deforestation in Amazon. Scientists have warned about the loss of plants and trees due to deforestation, but they did not talk about the loss suffered by smaller inhabitants of Amazon, which are microbes.

It has been recently revealed that microbes also get affected by deforestation. In order to reach at the above given result, the study researchers assessed the sample of a 100 square kilometer area in Rondonia, Brazil. The area was part of rainforest, but it has been converted into an area, which has been converted into agricultural land.

"We have known for a long time that conversion of rainforest land in the Amazon for agriculture results in a loss of biodiversity in plants and animals", said Jorge Rodrigues, who is a biologist from the University of Texas, Arlington.

It is now that they have got to know microbes are important part of ecosystem and they also get affected by the loss of biodiversity. It has to be understood by humans that though microbes cannot be seen by naked eye, they are important part of rainforest ecosystem.

Effect of deforestation affects one and all and that is what they have got to know, said Rodrigues.
