Sandwell General Hospital Complies With International Quality Standards
It has recently been revealed in a report that the Sandwell General Hospital in West Bromwich is in strict adherence with the defined quality standards, the Care Quality Commission has announced. A snap inspection held last month in the hospital has proved that it is ensuring compliance with the strict quality standards on the parameters of nutrition and dignity.
The Care Quality Commission inspectors examined the hospital’s new wards that have recently been built and found out excellent results. It was previously revealed through two reports in the year that care given to patients in the wards of hospital is questionable. It was not in accordance with the key standards of quality. A third inspection, which held freshly and without prior information in the hospital’s wards, led the inspectors to the conclusion that there was no such complaint now and it is following the defined quality standards.
The inspectors found that the troubled stroke ward Newton 4 of hospital was divided into two wards in August, for acute stroke patients (Newton 4) and stroke rehabilitation (now Newton 1), with the decision of senior doctors and managers. Also, the improvements have been noticed in these wards after segregation by the quality analysts. Further, positive feedback on the grounds of respect, proper nutrition and privacy was received from the patients too.
The patients are of the opinion that high quality care is being provided to them and they did not have any kind of complaints regarding the same. John Adler, Chief Executive of the Trust, says in the context, “During three inspection visits last year, the CQC visited five of our wards and were mainly concerned about one of them. But many of the improvements we have made have not just been to that ward but across the Trust”.
In addition, staff morale had also been found superior by the NHS Staff Survey, say reports.
