A report has revealed that Yahoo India has filed an appeal in the Delhi High Court that its case should be heard separately as it does not come under the league of Google and Facebook. The court has accepted the plea of Yahoo India and would hold separate hearing for it.
Yahoo India has also replied the summons of the Court, in which it was blamed for having some explicit material on the site which could hurt the sentiments of people belonging to different religions. Yahoo India has cancelled such claims and has affirmed that their site does not contain any objectionable material.
In fact, no objectionable material has been downloaded from their site. Justice Suresh Kait hearing the case has agreed to Yahoo India and has asked Delhi Police to respond to their plea. They have also affirmed that the summon sent to them, along with other 20 websites such as Google, Orkut, Youtube, Facebook and many more, is entirely questionable.
Meanwhile, the court has postponed the hearing of Google and Facebook till February 2. If claims against them prove true then they can be asked to serve a jail for many years or they would be asked to pay penalty. It is also possible that the websites might have to pay the fine and serve the jail-term also.
Internet censorship has led the websites as well general population to raise voice against the government. They have been blamed by them to be following the footsteps of totalitarian country China where internet freedom is being regulated.
