As per reported information, it has got revealed that Atos, which is an international IT services company, has won a five year contract which costs £74million. AS per the contract, Atos has to supply 10,000 desktops to Department of Health of the NHS and has also to provide some other necessary services.

The department of health said that the deal would prove beneficial for them as they would be able to save 40% of the current expenditure that is being done on the technological aspect. Atos would not provide desktops but would also provide desktop services, network services and a new data centre infrastructure.

Giving more information about the deal, the department of health representatives said that the deal would cover all the central departments as well as some other organizations. The deal has replaced supplier CSC with Atos. The NHS officials said that the deal has been as a part of in-house DH team in which many of the Additional Supply Capability and Capacity (ASCC) frameworks has been broken.

Wayne Gibson, who is Senior Vice President, Government and Health at Atos, said “Our new solution makes the Government’s ICT Strategy, Sustainability and Open Source initiatives a reality. We will work with SMEs and use Open Source software to deliver a service that offers value for money”.

Recently Atos was a subject of criticism as well. It is reported that the company was not able to handle the application system, but the government has come to its rescue. It claimed all the reports to be flawed and also provided proofs for their claim.

Seeking the support of the government, the company has warned the websites which has criticized them to stop their maligning acts as otherwise they would file lawsuits against them.
