Malaria Deaths Not Being Taken Seriously

Making an extremely threatening disclosure, an estimation released recently by the World health organization (WHO), which were based on re-evaluations conducted on deaths that transpired due to malaria during the last thirty years or so, has claimed that that adults are highly susceptible towards falling prey to life-threatening diseases caused by mosquitoes.

The report claimed that adults are more expected to die due to malaria, the mosquito-borne disease, with the chances of death being far higher than deemed earlier.

In addition, the WHO has also claimed that despite the severity on offer due to the age-old health peril of malaria, a large number of people all over the world are not still entirely mindful of the fact that malaria can in fact prove terminal for them, in case they don’t take appropriate measures to tackle it in the first place.

It has also been speculated that the number of individuals who actually died due to malaria is around two-times more than the figure estimated by the organization earlier. Malaria reportedly accounts for killing around 50% more than deemed earlier and it generally tends to inflict an extremely high number of adults and youngsters, apart from being tremendously severe on children.

In this regard, a study was recently conducted by researchers from the University of Washington’s Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) and its reports have been made available in the recent edition of the journal The Lancet.

While expressing his viewpoint regarding the threat on offer because of malaria, along with mentioning the amount of negligence prevailing among the masses regarding the potential threats and consequences of malaria, the lead author of the study, Christopher Murray, said, “You learn in medical school that people exposed to malaria as children develop immunity and rarely die from malaria as adults. What we have found in hospital records, death records, surveys and other sources shows that just is not the case”.
