Infection Cases High In New Zealand

It has been reported that the health care sectors of New Zealand have been performing poorly as too many cases of infection are being reported in the region. A jump in the infection cases have been witnessed in the area, recently.

A write up published in the Lancet medical journal has showed that since 1989 the infection cases in the area have doubled. The write up has supported the findings of a research conducted by the Otago University.

As compared to the life threatening disease, the infection cases have increased by manifold. The cancer and diabetes cases have increased by 75%, in the past years. Lead researcher, Michael Baker said, “What we expected to see was a steady decline in serious infectious diseases and a rise in admissions for chronic diseases, such as cancer and diabetes, which is the expected pattern for a developed country”.

It has been informed that the residents of Maori and Pacific Island are more prone to be affected with infections. The area is counted among poorest suburbs and therefore residents of the area are at the risk of being infected.

Recommendations have been made to lower the incidences of infection. Curing infection costs a lot the government. Therefore, prevention is advisable. Infection tends to pass from people to people through physical contacts.

People are being advised to limit exposure to the outer world when being infected. Basic hygiene like washing hands and using sanitizers should be included in the lifestyle. It is believed that increasing socioeconomic inequalities in the society has led to increased cases of infection.

The government is required to step in to deal with the growing cases of infection in the country so that innocent lives could be saved.
