The results of Saturday's Washington County caucus are out. It has been revealed that in the caucus, Paul got 163 votes, Romney got 80 votes, Rick Santorum received 57 votes and Newt Gingrich got only four votes. Among all the participants, Paul performed far better and Newt Gingrich had a tough time.

Following the results of the caucus, Romney was declared as winner by the Maine Republican Party. However, the results of Washington County caucus were not included in calculating final result. The Washington County Republicans have asked the authorities concerned to include the results.

It has been informed that the results of Washington County caucus would be included and then the final result would be declared next month. While talking to CNN’s State of the Union, Ron Paul said, “It all depends on how you measure winning… The bottom line is who is going to get the most delegates … and we think we’re doing pretty good”.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Maine Republican Party, Charlie Webster affirmed that during calculating the votes, several clerical mistakes have been made by the state party. Even some of the votes have been omitted.

Charlie Webster said that the votes are important and have not been ignored willing. It is hoped that soon authentic results would be out which would include all the missing votes as well. It is believed that by next month, the final results would be out.
