During an Intel news conference at Mobile World Congress, few surprising announcements have been made. The President and CEO of Intel Corp., Paul Otellini, declared plans of extending the smartphone product portfolio and customer ecosystem of the company. This included the company's premeditated new activities with Orange, Lava International Ltd.
Besides, ZTE, which is known as the world’s fifth-largest handset maker along with Visa Otellini, announced the company's plans to expand its smartphone and communications product roadmaps for the performance and value smartphone market segments. Company’s performance was also shared during this conference.
Yves Maitre, who is the senior vice-president of Orange Mobile Multimedia and Devices, also joined Otellini for having a discussion over launch of the new Orange smartphone based on the Intel Atom processor Z2460 reference design. This smartphone features a lustrous body and has a design that allows users to experience rich entertainment and Orange services, including the Orange TV also.
This smartphone is expected to hit the United Kingdom and France markets later this summer. As told by Otellini: “We are very pleased to add new, important customers and capabilities to our phone offerings today. We remain focused on delivering exciting new features and outstanding performance to smartphone customers around the world”.
Intel previously had a partnership with Motorola Mobility, and similarly it has announced multi-year mobile device collaboration with ZTE. This collaboration includes smartphone and tablets.
During the conference, He Shiyou, the executive vice-president and head of the terminal division of ZTE, discussed and explained that how his company's alliance in collaboration with Intel will help ZTE work in a much faster way and how this will further enable ZTE to establish distinctive and differentiated products for wireless operators.
ZTE's first Intel-powered mobile device that is planned to be introduced in the second half of 2012 was also announced during the meeting.
