Woodend Kindergarten Shut; Asbestos Particles Detected and Removed

A 2006 audit report had showed no evidences of asbestos particles in Woodend Kindergarten, Central Victoria. The recent reports provided by the council shows the presence of asbestos particles at a Woodend Kindergarten. The detailed report shows the presence of the particle in a power box. This is yet another case registered after the October 2010 case of Grant Avenue Kindergarten, Gisborne.

In response to this incident an asbestos audit of all the council-managed kindergartens has been ordered. According to Dale Thornton, Director Council Assets and Environment stated that audits will be carried out in non-working hours so that it doesn't cause any obligation to the work being carried out. Moreover, the Woodened Kindergarten was shut on February 23 and was reopened on February 27.

The council, however, is pointing out no questions on the 2006 report but at the same time it is stating that the particle should have been detected. But for sure this incident has led to new revisions, which need to be deployed.

However, the council expects the presence of asbestos in most building and homes over 25 years. And the council simultaneously assures that actions will be taken accordingly and immediately. In cases, where they will find the asbestos to be safe that will be kept under regular assessment.

In a yet another case, the doctors in the Macedon Ranges have raised a high alert against chronic health problems. According to them, the number of patients with diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity are substantially elevating.

This reason has led to the launch of Macedon Ranges Healthy and Active people Initiative. It is set to bring back the lifestyle of people on track. According to a survey carried out on Victorian population in 2008, 60% men and 40% women were overweight. Their intake of vegetables and food was also not healthy. These factors were considered as; they would make the population less active and larger.

The population was recommended to increase the intake of fruits, fresh vegetables in their diet to remain healthy and active. Rather more, scrapping out the junk was another way. This would in turn help the people to be more focused and even change their attitude and lifestyle to a great extent.
