Perdue Assures Hydraulic Fracturing Can Be Performed Safely

After visiting north-central Pennsylvania to examine drilling methods for natural gas, which have been opposed by some local residents there, Gov. Beverly Perdue ha assured environmental groups and citizen that it adequate steps are taken by the regulator it can be performed safely. Perdue said that the process of hydraulic fracturing or fracking can be done properly under the watchful eyes of inspectors, who would make sure that all security norms are at place.

The main challenge faced by the authorities to extract natural gas from shale deposits in central North Carolina was the opposition by local residents. There were security concerns shown by the people who lived nearby the area, stating that it would affect them directly. There would be massive amounts of water, and the chemicals used in the process which would raise health and groundwater concerns.

Inland drilling method for natural gas is an appreciated method of drilling, but it had some opposition from local people. Perdue met with the local officials and had talks with the regulator to find a solution to this ongoing protest.

Hydraulic fracturing or fracking is a very viable method of drilling and if done properly does not cause any harm to its neighboring environment. Although the governor is trying to resolve the issue, there hasn't been any official statement made whether she would make it legal in the state.

According to her, it would not only provide energy independence to the state but would also endure jobs which would help America and North Carolina be globally competitive. But, Perdue has received some serious criticism for delaying matters not taking decisions on time which has hampered the growth of the state.
