Lachine Hospital to Remain under McGill University Health Centre

Quebec's Health Minister Réjean Hébert has announced that Lachine Hospital will remain under the McGill University Health Centre.

Hébert said that it was great to see satisfaction on the faces of medical professionals when it was announced that the hospital is going to stay there for at least one more century.

It was some three months back that Hébert announced that he would be shifting the Lachine institution in order to preserve its francophone. The news was nothing less than a bomb attack and campaigns began to take place in order to cancel the move.

Petition with more than 11,000 signatures was created in such a short notice. But then, it seems that authorities concerned have to accept the request of the staff. While talking about the matter, Hébert said that linguistics have never been an issue to transfer the hospital. If there was a concern, then it was health and social services.

But then, the media made him remind about his letter in which he cited language as the only concern for the transfer. "I accord a particular importance to the fact that this institution must be reintegrated into a local network of the French language and that it pursue its historical vocation", said Hébert.
