Restaurant El Racó de Can Fabes to Close by Next Month
By the end of the coming month, El Raco de Can Fabes in Barcelona would shut down its doors, a recent report has uncovered.
The restaurant owned by now deceased Chef Santi Santamaria has had 32 long years in business. Chef Santi died in the year 2011.
However, two Michelin star-rating is with the restaurant. But, as per the findings, the business would not be practical anymore for Regina Santamaria, who is the current owner. Regina is the daughter of the late founder.
In March 2012, Santi, Santamaria's restaurant in Singapore, had also faced closure. The report found that El Raco de Can Fabes had opened in Sant Celoni neighborhood in Barcelona in 1981. Also, the same had won a three-Michelin-star rating by the year 1994.
The restaurant was renovated in 2012 by Regina Santamaria. Its menu was also revamped by hiring Chef Xavier Pellicer. He departed this year in the month of January. The final day of service for the restaurant has been set for August 31, the report said.
"In these difficult times for restaurants in our country, Can Fabes does not have the necessary economic viability to pursue a project based on excellence", said the Santamaria family in a statement issued on Wednesday.
