Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima shares details about ‘Miitomo’ launch
During the course of a Wednesday conference call with analysts, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima shared some details about the company's imminent plans to launch 'Miitomo' --- Nintendo's first official social game/app for iOS and Android devices.
It is for the first time that Nintendo has brought the spotlight on the launch of Miitomo, after having announced the game/app late last year while reiterating its commitment to the mobile gaming market with well-known mobile games publishing company, DeNA.
The details which Kimishima shared during the conference call included information about the forthcoming launch date of the Miitomo social game/app, as well as the company's plans for the launch in different regions.
Kimishima revealed that the Miitomo social game/app will first be launched in the UK and Ireland, in March. Gamers in these two regions will be able to set up a Nintendo account for pre-registration for the game from February 17. However, Kimishima did not divulge any expected date for the launch of Miitomo in the US and other regions across the world.
In reference to Miitomo's upcoming release, Kimishima said that "Miitomo is an entertainment application which turns communication among friends into a form of 'play'," and added: "After the release, we hope many will wonder why this sort of app had never existed before."
