Apple releasing significant upgrade to notification system in iOS 10
In an apparent effort to increase the usefulness and relevance of notifications in iOS 10 version, tech biggie Apple will be rolling out a substantial upgrade to the notification system in the new software.
A number of noteworthy upgrades to notifications, as well as the manner in which notifications can be presented by developers to users in iOS 10, will be released by Apple this week, at its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).
The upgrades unfold a significantly streamlined notifications framework for developers, giving them the ability to use a common set of tools to build and send notifications across Apple’s different OS platforms --- iOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
Moreover, the full power of updates will be usable in the apps as well as outside of apps; thanks to the fact that the look and feel of in-app presentation of notifications and system notifications will be the same.
The upgraded notification system will also allow developers to see pending notifications, and also to replace old and outdated notifications with new notifications which contain updated information. In addition, notifications will also support intent-based actions in tandem with the new SiriKit API.
