France has tough message for Lafarge over Trump Wall Project
French government has sent a strong message to French-Swiss construction major LafargeHolcim to reconsider taking U.S. Donald Trump’s Mexican wall project. Trump has been opposed by many leaders across the world on his project to construct a wall on the U.S. Mexican border.
LafargeHolcim CEO Eric Olsen had earlier said that the company was prepared to supply materials for the mega project.
In an interview with France Info radio channel, French Foreign minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said, “Lafarge should reflect upon what its interests are. There are other clients who will be stunned by this.”
European leaders have condemned many plans presented by President Trump. In his remarks on handling of refugee crisis by European leaders, President Trump has clearly said that he was surprised by failure of European governments to deal with influx of refugees.
President Trump has repeatedly said that he will make Mexico pay for the wall. The wall issue has led to diplomatic and political crisis in Mexico. After Donald Trump won the Presidential elections in November 2016, Mexican currency has faced a sharp decline.
