China urges France to Protect Chinese Community after Police Killing

Police killing of a Chinese man has led to violent protests across France. Chinese government has urged French government to protect Chinese community in France. After the event, Chinese government has urged French authorities to guarantee safety and legal rights of Chinese citizens in France.

French authorities informed that man was shot by officer in self defense. The report also informed that the victim wounded an officer with a ‘bladed weapon’.

Chinese community protested across France. After some protests in Paris turned violent, police arrested 35 people. Nearly two million people of Chinese origin currently live in France.

In September 2016, nearly 15,000 people of Chinese origin marched in Paris to raise awareness about racism against community in France.

French authorities informed that further investigation will be conducted to clarify the reason behind police killing. Chinese government has also urged French government to conduct a thorough investigation.
