NHSBT Honors Blood Donors for Making Over 75 Blood Donations

The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has honored a man from Drighlington for making more than 75 blood donations. The 66-year-old Rodney Goldsworthy, they said, may have saved over 225 patients at the local hospitals.

It is said that blood from one donation can save three lives. Goldsworthy has been donating blood from last 42 years. He said that he believes in helping people. He also expressed that he feels good in doing so as he asserted that one day you may also need the same help as recipient.

The NHSBT has awarded the man with a commemorative crystal award. The award was presented to him by a blood recipient Jayne Snell. Another 64-year-old man, Peter Bennett, was also presented with a similar award for his contributions to the blood donation cause.

He too was honored for making greater than 75 donations. The ceremony was held in Harrogate. NHSBT was quite amused at the blood donors who have been involved in the cause for many years and have saved many lives.

"If you would like to become one of the life-savers, make an appointment to attend a local session either by calling 0300 123 23 23 or visiting our website at blood. co. uk", avowed Donna Batty, a spokesperson for NHSBT.
