Endeavor to Make New York’s George Lake as “Smart Lake”

A recent report has shed light on the fact that a joint scientific research project is ready to give a tag to the New York's Lake George. They wish to make it one of the smartest lakes in the world. The project is called as the Jefferson Project.

Aim of the project is to make it a smart lake with the aid of state of the art technology. This would be done with the help of sensors that would analyze stream runoff, rainfall, wind, currents, salinity, chlorophyll and nitrogen at the lake. Even the IBM supercomputer would be utilized to give three-dimensional picture of the lake.

It is under the guidance of IBM, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Further, even Fund for Lake George is on its way to target and preserve primeval lake located at the base of the Adirondack Mountains.

According to the scientists, this model can be used elsewhere. It is a symbol of technology that carries sophisticated monitoring systems. The basic purpose would be to comprehend threats like road salt and invasive species.

Fund for Lake George executive director Eric Siy has said, "We can turn the lake back from the edge of the abyss. We do not have a complete picture of Lake George scientifically, and we need it".
